Run for Kidney Wales

Why not run for Kidney Wales and
help us raise awareness and life saving funds for kidney patients
across Wales who depend on our vital life saving work. When you run
for Kidney Wales Foundation we support your efforts by producing a
individual running pack which contains: running vests, t-shirts, fleece,
posters and sponsorforms, we will also help you setup a justgiving
fundraising page to help maximise your fundraising potential.
Currently supporting and running for Kidney Wales we have:
Name: Richard Hazlewood:
Event: London to Paris Cycle Ride
Target: £1,300
The General Election isn't the only challenge facing Richard Hazlewood, the Welsh Conservatives' Chief Press Officer, in 2010. Here he explains why he's decided to cycle from London to Paris.
If you'd like to support Richard's London-Paris cycle challenge you can do so at http://www.justgiving.com/RichardHazlewood
Name: Rachel Newbould
Event: Paris Marathon, 5 April
Target: £3,000
Support Rachel who is running her first-ever marathon in Paris to raise money for Kidney Wales.
When
Rachel lines up against thousands of other competitors in her Kidney
Wales t-shirt, she will be inspired by a special memory - her Dad, Garry.
Sadly, Garry passed away suddenly
in January, but it was he who first took Rachel along to his local
running club, the Village Vipers, and she has trained with them every
week since.
After taking part in Kidney Wales' Cardiff 10k
last year with her Dad, she is determined to follow in Garry's footsteps
and raise money for Kidney Wales, his favourite charity.
Despite
her busy schedule as a doctor, Rachel's already reached the 20-mile
marker in training. But faced with a gruelling challenge to run under 3
hours 30 minutes, and an aim to raise £3,000 for Kidney Wales, she
needs your support!
Help Rachel reach her target by sponsoring her at www.justgiving.com/rachelnewbould
Support the Village Vipers

Get
behind the Village Vipers who are taking part in three of the toughest,
most challenging running events in the UK to raise money for Kidney
Wales!
Members of the club will be tackling the London
Marathon and the Welsh Castles Relay a team race which zig-zags
across the length and breadth of Wales between 20 of its most
prestigious castles, from Caernarfon Castle in the north to Cardiff
Castle in the south.
That's all before preparing to take part in the rigorous Half Iron Man swim, bike, run triathlon in June.
The Vipers will be running in tribute to one of their most dedicated members, Garry Newbould, who sadly passed away last January.

Name: Dan Cherry
Events: 2009 Cardiff 10k, 2009 Cardiff Half-Marathon,
2009 London Marathon
Target: £2,000
When
Dan's younger brother recently went onto the waiting list for a kidney
transplant, he suddenly realised just how many thousands of people
across Wales are affected by kidney disease every year and the
difference he could make by raising vital funds to support the work of
Kidney Wales.
Dan's
Uncle also underwent a kidney-pancreas transplant last year, and he is
successfully reaping the benefits thanks to the generosity of an organ
donor.
Dan
is donning his trainers to raise vital funds for Kidney Wales, at the
2009 London Marathon, and will be pounding the roads again later this
year in the Cardiff 10k, and Cardiff Half-marathon.
Add the cherry to Dan's challenge by sponsoring him at www.justgiving.com/dancherry1
Name: Eurof Davies
Event: London Marathon, April 26
Target: £500
Another local Welsh runner
donning his trainers at the London Marathon on April 26 is Eurof
Davies, who this year is generously running on behalf of Kidney Wales.
But rather than just asking for a donation, the kind-hearted runner is asking you to guess his finishing time!
What's more, the nearest 10 guesses will win some fabulous prizes!

To give you a clue, Eurof ran his last London Marathon in a superb 3hr 33 min and 47 seconds.
£2 for a guess, or three for £5!

Name: Noel Davies and Hannah Pole
Event: Blackpool Half Marathon, 5 April
Target: £500
Every year Kidney Wales relies
on the generosity of our fundraisers who take part in a host of local
events to raise vital, life-saving funds for Kidney Wales.
Here at Kidney Wales, we've decided it's time to swap our pens for trainers and give it a try ourselves!
This year, Noel and Hannah
from the Kidney Wales Communications team will be attempting to get
round all 13.2 miles of the Blackpool Half Marathon without hitching a
ride from the local donkeys, and all with an aim to raise £500 for
kidney patients across Wales.
It's going to be tough feat, so support them now by sponsoring them at www.justgiving.com/kidneywales
Name: Karin Anderson
Event: Reading Half Marathon, March 29
Karin Anderson is kindly
following in the footsteps of her father, Bill Green, by running the
Reading Half Marathon in his memory to raise money for Kidney Wales.
Bill Green was a life-time
supporter of the Kidney Wales Foundation with his wife Joan, and was
heavily involved in the People Like Us Campaign a council facilitated
by Kidney Wales but run entirely by kidney patients to help improve
patient services.
Bill sadly passed away last
year and Karin is bravely donning her Kidney Wales t-shirt to raise
money for the charity her father loved so much.
It's an outstanding effort by Karin, as Reading is well-known for being a competitive course.

Name: Gareth Evans
Events: London Marathon, Castles Relay, Half Iron-Man
Despite being a swimming
instructor who is well attuned to the rigours of a 26 mile marathon,
this year Gareth Evans is running the London Marathon with a real
difference.
Gareth will be helping to raise money for kidney patients across Wales by running as a giant kidney!
He will be donning the crazy
costume in memory of Garry Newbould, a much-loved member of his local
running club, the Village Vipers, who was impressed by Kidney Wales
work.
Not only this, he'll be
forming part of a team running for Kidney Wales at the 2009 Castles
Relay , before putting his brute force to the test at the fearsome Half
Iron-Man competition later this year.
